Mercury

Mercury is the first planet in our solar system and is named after the god of messangers, travilers, and thevies. The god Hermes or quick silver because the planet is very fast and so is Hermes.  Mercury does not have any known moons. 

Venus

Venus is the second planet in our solar system and is named after the goddess of love and beauty.  The goddess Aphorodite.  They named Venus after her because even though the planet is any thing but beautyfull they believe that under all that grossness and uglyness there is some beauty.  The planet does not have any moons that we know of. 

Mars

Mars is the fourth planet in our solar system.  And is named after the god of war. The god Ares.  they named the planet after him because the red planet(Mars) looks like it is covered in blood and war usually has lots of blood in it so thus they named the planet after Ares.  The planet  has two moons.  The first moon's name is Deimos god of terror son of Ares.  The second moon's name is Phobos(phobeo come from his name) god of fear son of Ares. 

Jupiter

Jupiter is the fifth planet in our solar system.  And is named after god of the sky, god of rain, and the cloud-gatherer.  The god ZEUS.  The planet has 63 moons but only 50 have received names the others have names but those are just temperary.  The planets first moons name is Adrastea.  The second is Aitne.  The third is Amalthea.  And the rest are Ananke, Aoede, Arche, Autonoe, Callirrhoe, Callisto, Carme, Carpo, Chaldene, Cyllene, Elara, Erinome, Euanthe, Eukelade, Euporie, Europa, Eurydome, Ganymede, Harpalyke, Hegemone, Helike, Hermippe, Herse, Himalia, Io, Iocaste, Isonoe, Kale, Kallichore, Kalyke, Kore, Leda, Lysithea, Megaclite, Metis, Mneme, Orthosie, Pasiphae, Pasithee, Praxidike, Sinope, Sponde, Taygete, Thebe, Thelxinoe , Themisto, and Thyone.  And those are just the ones that have permanent names.

Saturn

Saturn is the sixth planet in our solar system.  Saturn is not named after any gods or goddesses.  Saturn has 60 moons but only 52 have permanent names.  The moons names are Methone, Mimas, Janus (the god of choices), Epimetheus (the father of excuses and Pandora's husband), Prometheus (the titan god that gave mankind fire), Atlas (Titan god of the heavens), Daphnis, Pandora [as in pandoras pithos (or box as many know it as)], Helene, Dione, Calypso (Daughtor of Atlas), Telesto, Tethys, Enceladus, Pallene, Anthe, Ijiraq, Kiviuq, Iapetus, Hyperion (the titan god of light), Titan (the genoration before the greek gods), Rhea (She is the mother of Posidon, Hade, Zeus, Demeter, Hestia, Hera, and the wife of Kronos god of time), Polydeuces, Albiorix, Skathi, Paaliaq, Phoebe (also known as the third Oracle of Delphoi or known as the titan god Krios' wife), Tarqeq, Siarnaq, Skoll, Erriapus, Bebhionn, Tarvos, Jarnsaxa, HyrrokkinGreip, Mundilfari, Thrymr, Farbauti, Hati, Suttungr, Bergelmir, Narvi,Aegir, Fornjot, Loge, Ymir, Kari, Surtur, Fenrir, and Bestla.

Uranus

Uranus is the seventh planet in our solar system.  Uranus is not named after any greek gods or goddesses.  The planet has 27 moons.  And their names are Oberon, Umbriel, Ariel, Titania, Miranda, Puck, Cordelia, Ophelia, Bianca, Cressida, Desdemona, Juliet, Portia, Rosalind, Belinda, Perdita, Caliban, Sycorax, Stephano, Prospero, Setebos, Trinculo, Ferdinand, Francisco, Mab, Cupid (son of Aphorodite), and Margaret.

Neptune

Neptune is the eighth planet in our solar system.  Neptune is named after the god of the sea, storm bringer, earthshaker, and brother of Hade, Zeus, Demeter, Hera, and Hestia.  The god Posidon.  Neptune has 13 moons.  And their names are Naiad (water spirit), Thalassa, Despina, Galatea, Larisaa, Proteus, Triton, Nereid, Halimede, Sao, Laomedeia, Psamathe, Neso. 

Pluto

Pluto was our ninth planet in our solar system but now is a dwarf planet.  Pluto is named after the god of the dead and death.  God of the underworld.  The Greek God Hades brother to Zeus, Posidon, Demeter, Hera, and Hestia.  Pluto has three known moons.  Their names are Charon (He takes the dead to the underworld and over the river styx), Nix(Mother of Charon), and Hydra (The Hydrawas a massive and poisonous serpent with nine heads.)
